SmartWorks Expands Advanced Leak Notification Options with Ivrnet
PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT · October 22, 2026

New notification option helps water utilities connect SmartWorks leak intelligence with automated SMS, email and customer communications

SmartWorks, a division of N. Harris Computer Corporation, is expanding the communication options available with its Advanced Leak Notification solution through integration with Ivrnet, another Harris company specializing in automated customer communications.

SmartWorks Advanced Leak Notification already helps utilities identify potential leaks and continuous water-use conditions using meter data and configurable business rules. Utilities can then notify customers through supported third-party communication services.

The addition of Ivrnet gives SmartWorks customers another option for delivering those notifications, including SMS, email and other supported communication channels.

From Detection to Customer Communication

Advanced Leak Notification is designed to help utilities move quickly from identifying unusual water consumption to engaging affected customers.

With SmartWorks and Ivrnet, utilities can:

  1. Identify Potential Leaks: SmartWorks analyzes interval meter data to identify usage patterns that may indicate continuous flow or a potential leak.
  2. Automatically Notify Customers: When defined conditions are met, notifications can be delivered through Ivrnet using channels such as SMS and email, helping utilities reach customers without relying solely on manual outreach.
  3. Support Proactive Customer Service: Earlier communication gives customers an opportunity to investigate unusual consumption and take action before a potential leak results in additional water loss or an unexpectedly high bill.
  4. Expand Communication Options: Utilities using Advanced Leak Notification can select the notification service that best fits their operational requirements, with Ivrnet now available as an additional option.

“Advanced Leak Notification has always been about helping our customers turn meter data into meaningful action,” said Bridget Abbott, Manager of Customer Success at SmartWorks. “Adding Ivrnet gives utilities another way to automate that final step — getting timely information into the hands of customers who can act on it.”

Because both organizations are part of Harris, the collaboration also gives utilities access to complementary technologies supported by teams with a shared understanding of the utility market.

“Utilities need communication tools that can reliably turn operational events into timely customer outreach,” said Jennifer McLean, Vice President, Operations at Ivrnet. “By connecting Ivrnet with SmartWorks Advanced Leak Notification, we can help utilities make customer communication a seamless part of their leak-management process.”

Help Customers Take Action Sooner

For utilities already using SmartWorks Advanced Leak Notification, Ivrnet provides an additional option for extending leak detection into automated customer engagement.
